This years league final was played on Friday 28th October between Monaghan and Kerry.  Monaghan were captained by Andrew Hoolan while Thomas Sheedy was the Kerry captain.  The game was played a a furious pace in the first half with Tadhg White scoring an impressive 1:4 for Monaghan.  Tadhg also had a hand in a second deflected goal. Captain Andrew chipped in with a goal and Jayden Coughlan scored a very impressive point, leaving Monaghan with a half time total of 3:5.  Kerry replied with goals from their captain Thomas, Sam Carey, Arnis Litavnieks and Patrick McCormack, Thomas also popping over a lovely point from play. Half time total 4:1.  We had a one point game.  The second half became a tighter affair with the turning point coming after Aoife Hogan switched from goalkeeper to goal scorer!  This was after Thomas and Arnis had scored a point apiece to put Kerry in front.  Both sides tried to get more scores but defences had gotten the measure of each others forwards and the game ended with a two point victory for Monaghan.

Dunkerrin Run coming Sunday 20th March.  Please support. Contact any member of the Parents Association if you are willing to help.  We look forward to a good day and hope the weather helps.

The girls from 4th, 5th and 6th competed in the FAI five-a-side Schools Soccer competition on Wednesday 9th.  They played Rearcross, Leugh NS and Rahealty NS in the Peake Villa Complex, Thurles.  They were beaten by Rearcross in the first match on a scoreline of 4 – nil.  The Rearcross team were full of girls who play soccer for clubs including three girls who represent Tipperary in Ladies Soccer.  We gave them a good battle, but they were better than us.  In the next game against Leugh NS, we got off to a great start as following pressure from Alice and Ciara, they scored an own goal.  We won this game 3 – nil, two from Ciara.  Carrying on from this success we played a gallant Rahealty team and won two – nil.  Alice scored first and Aoife finished them of with a cracker!  We had fun and played well.  Many thanks to Patricia Crowley for helping out.  Team: Alice, (capt), Isabel, Rachel, Aoife, Jessica and Ciara.

On Friday 11th, March 2nd, 3rd and 4th travelled to Corville NS with Moneygall NS to take part in an indoor camogie blitz.  This event was organised by Corville Teacher Ms Julie Kirwan and everyone had great fun.  We are very thankful to Julie and her colleagues for the opportunity and their hospitality.  While no score was kept, Scoil Muire were very successful at scoring and their defensive skills, while tested, were not gotten the better of.  Every girl gave her best and the school are very proud of their efforts.  Well done to the team : Ciara, Jessica, Ava, Laura, Sheolladh, Niamh and Lucy.

The Quiz, Auction and Raffle were very successful realising approximately €4,200 towards our target to purchase a graded reading scheme.  The night was enjoyable and well attended, with great generosity from those who donated and those in attendance.  Once we have a final figure, we will notify all contributors and the general parent body.  Thanks to all who helped on the night, especially Pat, the quiz master, Kevin, the auctioneer and Jim with the Parents Association.  Thanks also to those who helped in any way!

Just in Passing . . .

Our new window project began over the mid-term break, they should be finished during the Easter Holidays.  They have already made a big difference.  It will be great when they are finished!
